Bike, E-Bike, Scooter or Motorcycle? Choosing the Right Rental in Puerto Vallarta

A guided tour gives you a route, a guide and a story. A rental gives you a whole day with nobody telling you when to leave.

Both are good — they are just good for different days. And once you have decided to go on your own, the next question is what to go on.

Bicycle, e-bike, scooter, dual-sport, Harley or paddleboard: here is what each one is genuinely best at.

Renting beats booking, sometimes

A guided tour gives you a route, a guide and a story. A rental gives you a whole day with nobody telling you when to leave. Both are good; they are just good for different days.

If you already know roughly what you want to see, or you have been in Puerto Vallarta long enough to have your own list, renting is usually the better call. Here is what we rent and who each one is actually right for.

Bicycle — cheap, simple, no paperwork

The lowest-commitment option we have. No license, no fuel, no thinking about parking. It is the right choice if your radius is the centre, the Malecón and the neighborhoods around them, and if you would rather have a slow day than a fast one.

Rent it by the hour, for the office-hours block, or for a full 24 hours. Best for: short distances, mornings, people who like to stop a lot.

E-bike — the same, minus the effort

An e-bike is a bicycle with a motor that helps while you pedal. That sounds like a small difference and it is not: it turns Puerto Vallarta's hills from a decision into a non-issue, and it roughly doubles how far you will actually go before turning around.

No driver's license needed, which makes it the best option for anyone who wants scooter-like freedom without a license. Available by the hour, in a three-hour block, or for a full day. Best for: travelers with limited time, hot afternoons, anyone who wants to cover ground without arriving sweaty.

Scooter — the fastest way around town

Automatic, light on fuel, easy to park anywhere. If you are moving between the hotel zone, the centre and the beaches to the south several times a day, this is the one that saves you the most time and money.

You need a valid driver's license and an official ID. Rent from one hour up to 24. Best for: getting around efficiently, evenings out, couples travelling light.

Dual-sport motorcycle — for leaving the city

A dual-sport handles pavement and rough road equally well, which is what you want if the plan involves nearby towns, mountain roads or anything that stops being asphalt halfway through. Our bikes are new and maintained for exactly this kind of use.

For experienced riders only, with a valid license and ID. Available for the office-hours block or a full 24 hours. Best for: day trips out of Vallarta, riders who already know what they are doing.

Harley — the long, relaxed ride

Different purpose entirely. A Harley is for the coastal road, for a long ride at an unhurried pace, for the kind of day where the riding is the point rather than the transport. Steady, comfortable and made for distance.

Also for experienced riders, license and ID required. Best for: scenic routes, riders who came here wanting to ride.

Paddleboard — the same idea, on the water

Worth mentioning because it works the same way: you take the board, you go, you come back when you feel like it. We rent by the hour and we can arrange longer terms.

The one condition is being genuinely comfortable in the ocean, since a rental comes with no instructor. If it is your first time on a board, take a private lesson first and rent afterwards — you will enjoy it considerably more.

A quick way to choose

  • No license, short distances, small budget → bicycle
  • No license, more ground, less effort → e-bike
  • License, city and nearby beaches → scooter
  • License, experience, leaving town → dual-sport motorcycle
  • License, experience, long scenic rides → Harley
  • Comfortable in the ocean, want a quiet couple of hours → paddleboard

Where to pick everything up

All of it comes from the same place: our shop in downtown Puerto Vallarta, open Monday to Sunday from 9:00 to 17:00. If you are undecided, come by and tell us what your day looks like — it is usually a thirty-second conversation.

Browse everything on the Rentals page, or go straight to the E-Bike Rental, the Scooter Rental or the Bicycle Rental.
